[edit] Alternative names

Green Terror, Greenie, Gold Saum, Silver Saum

[edit] Synonyms

Acara aequinoctialis, Acara rivulata, Chromis rivulatus

[edit] Sexing

Males are much more colourful, larger and develop a nuchal hump as they mature.

[edit] Breeding

Green Terror's are substrate spawners and caring parents. They form a bond at a young age, mature fish are more difficult to bond.

[edit] Tank compatibility

Green Terror Cichlids are generally compatible with other Cichlids of the same size. They require a larger tank because of their potential size of approximately 8" (20.3cm), or potentially larger for males. A 60 US Gallons (227.1L) tank plus is recommended for a full grown, but in early stages you could have 2 or 3 in a tank of that size. The more foot print the tank has, the better. As these fish mature they may or may not accept tank mates.

[edit] Diet

They will accept most foods including pellet and flake as well as live/frozen food such as brine shrimp.

[edit] Feeding regime

Feed once or twice a day.

[edit] Environment Specifics

These fish should be provided with a spacious tank with hiding places provided in stable rock work and bogwood. They are not planted tank safe, they will destroy plants. A well-filtered tank is a must.

[edit] Behaviour

An aggressive fish, and should be kept with fish of the same or larger size, within reason. Being Cichlids, they do dig, and plants will probably get uprooted in the process.

[edit] Identification

An attractive fish, there are two known colour varieties depending on geographical location. One has white edging to the fins whereas the other has more yellow/orange edging. It is an oval-shaped fish with a rounded caudal fin. The dorsal is pointed. The upper back is dark-green with the flanks being iridescent paler green. The body is generally quite iridescent giving the impression of several colours and bars.
