The Leopard Danio is a popular colour morph of the Zebra Danio.

Danio rerio var. frankei, originally Danio frankei, thought to be a separate species.

Females are broader.

[edit] Tank compatibility

An active peaceful tankmate, can bother shy species and should not be kept with fish with long-fins as they can nip. The Leopard Danio prefers to be kept in shoals of 5 or more.

Will take flake and pellet food as well as live/frozen food such as bloodworm, brine shrimp and daphnia.

Feed once or twice a day.

This fish enjoys planted tanks, however, it prefers room to swim over a heavily planted tank. This fish MUST have room to swim back and forth, therefore a long tank is prefered over a high one.

Danios are very social, extremely active creatures. They do best in groups with room to swim and chase each other. If too few Danios are kept in an aquarium, they will harass other fish.

Identical in every way to the Zebra Danio except for instead of stripes, this fish has many spots down its flanks.
