- Difficult to sex visually, males have more pointed and elongated dorsal, anal and caudal fins.

- A generally peaceful fish that should be kept with other peaceful community fish. Do not keep with fin nippers, and one male is best kept to a tank.

- Will accept most foods including pellet and flake as well as live/frozen food such as bloodworm and daphnia.

- The body of this fish is elongated and brown in colour, showing bars when stressed. The dorsal, anal and caudal fins are all pointed and dark red/brown in colour and then edged with iridescent pale blue. These fish have small pointed ventral fins which are red and tipped with the iridescent blue.
