[edit] Alternative names
- Black Winged Hatchetfish
[edit] Sexing
- Only identifiable during spawning when eggs can be seen in the females body. Very difficult to breed in captivity, most specimens found will be wild caught.
[edit] Tank compatibility
- Top dweller, a peaceful community fish to be kept with mid-bottom dwellers.
[edit] Diet
[edit] Feeding regime
- Twice a day.
[edit] Environment Specifics
- Needs to be kept in shoals of at least 6. Must have a tight fitting lid on their tank as they're excellent jumpers.
[edit] Behaviour
- Top dwelling shoaling fish. This fish has the ability to leap out of the water and almost "fly" for up to 5ft! So extra emphasis on the tight fitting lid for this species!
[edit] Identification
- A very distinctive looking fish. A convex body with "wing" like pectoral fins. The body colour is iridescent silver with small black blotches, the body is almost transparent.
