There are no known visual sexual differences between the sexes of this fish. There are no known records of this fish being bred in captivity.

Despite its size, this fish is generally peaceful towards tank mates and others of its own species. It makes a good tank mate to other Doradid catfish and semi-aggressive tank mates. Can be trusted with fish slightly smaller than itself but should not be kept with very small or delicate fish.
