This page in a nutshell: Images are an important way to identify fish, and as such we only accept quality image uploads. Do not upload images of poor quality unless acceptable images are not already present.

[edit] Overall Quality

Some of the criteria of a good quality image are as follows:

  • The main subject of the image should be in focus.
  • Lighting should be sufficient to see identifying characteristics on the specimen.
  • Should be big. An uploaded image of 200x200px is much less useful then 2000x2000. We do not have a limit on image storage or uploads, so please send us the largest copy of the image that you can. We automatically scale it down for use on the pages.

[edit] Copyright Tags

On image copyrights and URLs are a major drawback when considering image quality. We always respect copyrights, but will always opt to use a non-tagged image.
