[edit] Sexing
- It is only possible to sex this Pleco once it is mature. Males will have a flatter, leveled slope to their forehead and are slightly wider, whereas females have a more rounded forehead and plumper when in breeding condition.
[edit] Tank compatibility
- Keep only one Gold Nugget to a tank, they will be highly territorial to other Plecos, especially other Gold Nuggets, and will also be territorial to other bottom dwellers including Catfish and Loaches. Will be peaceful towards other mid or top dwelling community fish.

- This fish will constantly graze around the tank but will generally not touch most types of algae or plants, bogwood is essential in its diet. They will also accept blanched vegetables as well as meaty foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworm, shrimp and daphnia.

- Feed once a day.

- Provide hiding places in the form of caves and bogwood decor. Will generally not touch live plants.

- Territorial Pleco which is otherwise peaceful towards tankmates.

- An attractive large Pleco which is brown in base colour with many rounded yellow spots covering the body and fins. The dorsal and caudal fins are edged with a yellow band and the belly is pale yellow in colour.
