Masked Julie stays at the bottom beside their caves or rocks. They sometime come up at the middle and rarely stays at the surface.

Not to be keep with larger Cichlids unless, the tank has many hiding places.

Diet

This genus is omnivorous. In nature they eat crustaceans, insect larvae and molluscs. They will ingest grains of sand, diatoms and filament algae. When in the aquarium they will readily eat mysis shrimp, mosquito larvae, daphnia, plankton and high quality flakes and pellets.
