- Found in Stanley Pool (in the Congo basin) and Ubangi River in Africa.

- Difficult to visually sex.
[edit] Tank compatibility
- This fish is a predator so is best kept with larger bottom dwelling fish. Smaller fish may be eaten and larger mid-top dwelling fish may be fin-nipped.

- Will accept most meaty foods such as bloodworm and brine shrimp. May or may not be weaned on to pellets and flake.

- Feed once or twice a day.

- A long tank with ample open swimming space but without very bright lights. The lid should be secure with no holes as this fish may jump.

- An agile slender predatory fish.
[edit] Identification
- This fish is very elongated and slender with a long pointed beak-like snout. It is yellow in base colour with a thick bold dark grey/black line running from the eye through to the caudal peduncle. The base of the caudal fin is red in colour. The fins are otherwise translucent.
