[edit] Identification
- A slightly elongate fish with a pointed snout and tall pointed dorsal fin. The body is silver/green in colour, paler on the belly, with a thick black/green lateral line from the nose to the caudal peduncle. The fins are translucent with hints of yellow. Can be mistaken for Barbus macrotaenia, they are told apart by the last ray of the dorsal fin. In B.eutaenia this ray is thick enlarged and bony which is serrated, in B.macrotaenia this ray is slender and delicate, less spine like and not serrated.
