[edit] Alternative names

Madagascar Panchax

[edit] Sexing

Mature males will have brighter colouration than females as well as having longer dorsal, caudal and anal fins.

[edit] Tank compatibility

Can be kept in robust yet peaceful community tanks. Will eat smaller fish but will not bother similar sized or larger peaceful fish such as Dwarf Cichlids and Corydoras. Males will harass females so keep several females per male.

[edit] Diet

Should accept pellets and flake as well as meaty foods like bloodworm and brine shrimp.

[edit] Feeding regime

Feed once or twice a day.

[edit] Environment Specifics

These fish appreciate planted tanks with hiding places as well as open swimming room. They do not like very bright lights so floating plants are ideal. A secure lid is a must as this fish can jump.

[edit] Behaviour

A peaceful mid-top dwelling fish. Males may harass single females so should be kept in groups with more females than males.

[edit] Identification

An elongated fish with an upturned mouth. The dorsal and anal fins are set well towards the posterior of the fish and the caudal fin is rounded. It is pale with iridescence, this can range from green/yellow to blue/orange, males will be more vibrant. The fins may have some dark colouration towards their base.
