- Males have a pointed dorsal fin, females have a more rounded dorsal
[edit] Tank Compatability
- A peaceful community fish gets along well with community fish such as teras, platys, etc. Be careful placing with other gouramis. It is rather timid and will be bullied by more assertive gourami species.

- Happily eats prepared flake and pellet foods. Will eat algae off of plants and if not fed for some time will eat some plants.

- Feed once or twice per day.

- Likes a densely planted, well shaded tank with a slow to moderate current. Enjoys a similar environment to most other gouramis.

- A quite peaceful Gourami, will feed at the surface but will range across all levels of the aquarium.

- Generally grows larger than most common aquarium gourami species. Has a dark band running along the lateral line that runs through the eye from the mouth to the tail. Has subtle pale/dark grey brown vertical bands running along the flanks. Has long feelers that trail past the end of the tail.
