In shallow reefs in the South Pacific Ocean, mainly Hawaii, Marshall and Wake islands.

It is difficult to visually sex this fish.

The Yellow Tang will be aggressive towards other Tangs, only one Yellow Tang should be kept to a tank. They will cohabit with other robust species.

This Tang is an omnivore, preferring blanched vegetables to meat, and will accept dried seaweed, marine algae, mysid shrimp, spirulina, blanched vegetables and will graze on algae..

This fish is suitable for both fish only and reef tanks. They are almost always on the move so a laterally spacious tank allowing for plenty of swimming room is essential.

An attractive and popular saltwater fish. It is oval-shaped and laterally depressed in shape with a long pointed snout. It is vivid yellow in colour, giving it its common name.
