- In shallow reefs in the South Pacific Ocean, mainly Hawaii, Marshall and Wake islands.

- It is difficult to visually sex this fish.

- The Yellow Tang will be aggressive towards other Tangs, only one Yellow Tang should be kept to a tank. They will cohabit with other robust species.

- This Tang is an omnivore, preferring veges to meat, and will accept dried seaweed, marine algae, mysid shrimp, spirulina, blanched vegetables and will graze on algae..

- This fish is suitable for both fish only and reef tanks. They are almost always on the move so a laterally spacious tank allowing for plenty of swimming room is essential.

- An attractive and popular saltwater fish. It is round and laterally depressed in shape with a long pointed snout. It is vivid yellow in colour, giving it its common name.
