In shallow reefs in the South Pacific Ocean, mainly Hawaii, Marshall and Wake islands.

It is difficult to visually sex this fish.

The Yellow Tang will be aggressive towards other Tangs, only one Yellow Tang should be kept to a tank. They will cohabit with other robust species.

This Tang is an omnivore, preferring veges to meat, and will accept dried seaweed, marine algae, mysid shrimp, spirulina, blanched vegetables and will graze on algae..

Feed once or twice a day.

This fish is suitable for both fish only and reef tanks. They are almost always on the move so a laterally spacious tank allowing for plenty of swimming room is essential.

The Yellow Tang can be aggressive to fish of its own species and other Tangs.

An attractive and popular saltwater fish. It is round and laterally depressed in shape with a long pointed snout. It is vivid yellow in colour, giving it its common name.
