I just tested the nitrate level in my wee 20L walstad tank and thought this might interest people.
I use the API Liquid Nitrate Test kit.
The 2 bottles are stamped 17A0108 which indicates they were made in Jan. 2008
I got a reading of over 80mg/l which I didn't believe for a moment!
I tried a Tetra 6in1 dip stick which was opened 2 months ago and it read barely 25 mg/l.
So I dug out a new packet I bought of the API liquid Nitrate about 3 months ago and looked at the stamp on it. It was 17A0607, (June 2007) yes a full year older!
API claim these bottles are good for 3 years from this date.
So I did a test with the 'new' bottle and got 10mg/l.
Cute eh?
But which do I believe?
I did do the right shake periods on bottle #2 and the test tube waited 5 mins!
I'm really getting fed up with the liquid test kits and I'm saving up for a hand device.
