- These fish come from swamps and ponds deep in the forests of Indonesia, and Malaysia. These ponds are also cooler in temperature than what you'd find wild Betta splendens in.
Behaviour[edit]
- Can be kept in male/female groups. They're difficult to breed as they pair up, if they don't like their partner, nothing will happen, so it's best to keep them in a mixed group and let them choose their partners themselves. They are bubblenesters, males will become a little territorial and aggressive when they're nest-building.
Identification[edit]
- One of the smaller Betta species, slender long body which is a rich iridescent wine red to dark brown in colour. They also have bright blue eyes.
