Origin

Sexing

Males have more vibrant colouration than females.

Tank compatibility

A peaceful shoaling fish, keep in groups of 6 or more. Do not keep with long-finned fish as this Tetra may well fin-nip.

Diet

Will take most foods including pellet and flake as well as live/frozen food such as bloodworm and brine shrimp.

Feeding regime

Feed once or twice a day.

Environment Specifics

The aquarium should be well planted on the sides and the background. The substrate should be dark and the light should be dimmed by using some floating plants, to bring out the colours of this fish.

Behaviour

A peaceful shoaling fish.

Identification

Note this rare fish is often confused with Hyphessobrycon columbianus which looks very similar.
