What is it?[edit]

This is a commercial product in bottle form that contains a liquid that you add to the aquarium water in controlled dosages which adds a form of Carbon for plants. It can be use to supplement CO2 use and is used to reduce algae.

Whilst not quite as effective as using CO2, it does provide a ready source of carbon that will not be released by aeration.

There are several forms on the market.

Ingredients[edit]

Seachem's Flourish Excel uses Polycycloglutaracetal, the others are believed to contain Glutaraldehyde (C5H8O2), all a potent disinfectant if overdosed.
