name change[edit]
Seems the name has changed to: Platydoras hancockii http://silurus.acnatsci.org/ACSI/participants/profiles/Sabaj/pdfs/2008_Platydoras_brachylecis.pdf (this doesn't mention Amblydoras, but instead seems to reidentify the whole genus and adds a brand new species) http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=246
I propose that the title be changed to Platydoras hancockii, and alternative names (with redirect where appropriate) be: Doras hancockii, Amblydoras hancockii, Amblydoras hancocki, Marbled Raphael Catfish, Marbled Talking Catfish, Talking Catfish, Blue-eye Catfish, Hancock's Catfish, and Croaking Spiny Catfish. --Tash 19:20, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

I agree the fish name needs changed, but surely it needs to be Amblydoras hancockii? As that is the accepted name. I can find no reference to Platydoras hancockii in an authoritative site like fishbase or a taxonomy site like NCBI, ITIS or the FIES. But then the paper only came out last year.

I suggest placing Platydoras hancockii name under the Synonyms section and place a reference tag to the PDF paper indicating that it may be about to change. When or if it is accepted by the scientific community then we can change its name. :-)
I suspect planetcatfish and Scotcat have jumped the gun slightly and are assuming it will be accepted?

ok. imo though fishbase seems to be a bit slow (the opposite of planet catfish and scotcat?) when it comes to these things. here is an article that simplifies the pdf in the first link.http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pfk/pages/item.php?news=1888
