Rabbitfish belong to the family Siganidae. Some live in schools, while others live more solitary lives among the corals. Rabbitfishes have small, hare-like mouths, large dark eyes, and a peaceful temperament which gives them their name. All rabbitfish are diurnal and herbivorous, feeding on algae in the wild. In aquaria, they should be fed a variety of fresh vegetables and algae. They also have venomous dorsal spines which they will expose if they feel threatened, such as being cornered, or unhappy, so avoid upsetting them. You should not get stung of they are content, and/or comfortable of your presence. If stung, seek medical attention immediately.
