The Clownfish, made popular by the film Finding Nemo, belong to the family Pomacentridae or Damselfish. They are known for hosting Anemones and being immune to their poisons. Many species of Clowns will breed readily in captivity and this should be encouraged rather than collecting from the wild to supplement demand for the pet trade.
Complexes
There are five complexes (six if you include the Maroon Clownfish, which belongs to the genus Premnas. The others belong to Amphiprion) the percula, tomato, skunk, clarkii, and the saddleback (Amphiprion polymnus) complexes.
