Males tend to be more slender and colourful than females.


Identification[edit]

This fish is very similar to Puntius denisonii, however, P. chalakkudiensis has a more underslung mouth and more muted colours than P denisonii. It also has a dark spot in the middle of the red dorsal fin, P. denisonii has a solid red dorsal.
